One of the highlights of our Iceland trip was the dog sledding adventure. On a snowy morning in Akureyri, we woke up bright and early to meet our fluffiest and friendliest guides, who welcomed us with so much love and affection! We were so happy playing with the huskies and the malamutes that we rolled around in the snow over and over again with them, and they all loved jumping around and giving us the cutest smooches!
It wasn’t long before they got a little restless and were all ready for a race. I hopped on the sled, held onto the wooden handle for dear life, and off I went, zooming across the snow and ice, and let the dogs take me to wherever their hearts desired. It was such a liberating feeling! We took turns giving treats to our fluffy friends to reward them for their hard work. Time flies and we each did our final run before it’s time to say goodbye. I helped lift the baby of the pack, a fluff-ball malamute, back up to the truck. Just look at her face, you can tell she hates parting too!We spent the rest of the morning strolling in a nearby park we stumbled upon, where we found some old friends – the Icelandic horses – to keep us company. I hope we’ll be back soon and see these lovely creatures again.
